Determined to raise funds to build a new cathedral Bishop Henry Brougham (David Niven) prays for guidance. His prayers appear to have been answered when a suave angel named Dudley (Cary Grant) arrives on the scene. Everyone who meets Dudley adores him, but only Henry knows the charming angel’s true identity. When Henry’s wife (Loretta Young) becomes a little too fond of Dudley the bishop is eager for the angel to go back to heaven.
