Ed2Go courses
are free, completely online and can be accessed from any computer that meets
the system requirements. In addition to Internet access, your computer will
need the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox Web browser, and the
latest versions of Adobe Flash and Adobe Reader. The Adobe products are free
and can be downloaded through the Ed2go site or by going directly to
http://www.adobe.com/downloads and clicking on Get Adobe Flash Player
and Get Adobe Reader. Most of the courses
are Macintosh compatible.
Courses begin
each month and run for six weeks with a two week grace period at the end of the
class to complete the course requirements. While these classes are not
accredited for the completion of college units, you will receive a certificate
upon successful completion of a class and some courses meet professional
requirements for continuing education. The classes are developed and led by
instructors and there are amble opportunities for online discussions with
instructors and classmates.
To view the
courses click on the eLibrary tab on the Library’s homepage. Select Articles & Databases and find Ed2go
by clicking on the letter E. Select
one of the course categories, such as
Accounting and Finance or Language
and Arts, to see types of courses offered in this area. Click on the
heading for the type of class you’d like to take and the specific courses will
appear. Almost all of the sub-categories contain multiple classes. To learn
more about a class, including exactly what will be covered in each lesson,
click on the course title. Here you will find the class syllabus, the
instructor’s biography, and, where applicable, information about continuing
education units.
